More Information - Humboldt County Traffic School

The Courtesy Bail Notice will be issued by the Traffic Division of Humboldt County Superior Court. Information pertaining to the bail amount, due date of payment, eligibility for traffic school attendance, proof of correction, and court appearances will be mentioned in the courtesy notice. If you have not received the notice or you need any further information, you can call the Traffic Division between official hours on their dedicated phone line (707) 445-7256.

Payments for the infractions can be made via mail in the form of personal checks, money orders, or cashier's checks. Payments in cash will have to be made in person. You can also choose to pay by phone (1-888-367-4669) or use the automated online payment systems to pay using your Master Card or Visa credit cards.

In most cases, the courtesy notice will tell you whether or not you are eligible for traffic school. These are the eligibility criteria you need to meet:

  • The citation must not be for equipment or non-moving violations
  • You have not been cited for a misdemeanor charge
  • You have not been cited with any violation that requires mandatory court appearance
  • The citation is in no way related to alcohol

If you meet these eligibility criteria, you will have to make full payment of the fine amount along with an added nonrefundable fee of $59 paid as the Traffic School Administration Fee. Furthermore, the traffic school you choose to attend will charge an attendance fee. You can view a list of DMV licensed home study traffic schools. The successful completion of the course is your responsibility. If you fail to do so, it will be recorded as a conviction and your problems will just compound.
